Workplace Air Quality & Acoustic Monitoring
Real-time indoor air quality and sound level monitoring for workplace safety. HIVIS Monitor 2.0 integrates seamlessly into your hi-vis vest, providing actionable IAQ insights on demand.
About the Project
HIVIS Monitor is a wearable IoT system designed for indoor air quality and acoustic monitoring in trades and industrial workplaces. The device fits inside a standard hi-vis safety vest and continuously measures IAQ score, eCO₂, bVOC gas index, temperature, humidity, and noise levels.
Built on the ESP32 microcontroller with a Bosch BME688 environmental sensor and an INMP441 MEMS microphone, each device publishes data every 3 seconds to a self-hosted server stack — Mosquitto MQTT, Node-RED, InfluxDB, and Grafana — all running on a single machine on-site.
The system is fully self-hosted and privacy-respecting. No data leaves your network. Workers get real-time air quality feedback on the device OLED display; supervisors see the full fleet view on the live dashboard below.
